Five spaces now open for residential course

Thursday, Jul 16, 2009

Following the allocation of rooms for Northampton's residential coaching course at Rugby School, FIVE spaces have become available.

This year's residential coaching course, being held for the first time at the birthplace of the game, Rugby School, has been one of the most popular in the history of Saints' Community coaching courses.

Places had been in very high demand, and these extra five spaces are expected to be filled extremely quickly.

The Saints residential coaching course is a five-day extravaganza of fun, games and of course rugby! Designed for ages between 12 and 16, the residential course provides intense training in all aspects of the game together with presentations from the Saints Academy and performance departments.

The course will utilise the excellent facilities at Rugby School and attendees will be staying in the school's boarding houses.

If you are interested in attending call the Saints Community department on 01604 599113 or follow the link below

Calling all coaches...

Monday, Jun 29, 2009

Old Caterhamians RFC is a thriving open Rugby Club that seeks a motivated Coach for their Senior Men's team. The Club had held the record for the longest serving Surrey One side and has recently experienced the highs of promotion to the London Four Leagues and Lows of relegation to Surrey Two. Old Cats run three Senior Men's teams, a Ladies team and an extensive mini/junior section from Under 6s to Under 18s.

The ideal candidate will be a great motivator and communicator, who can galvanize the existing talent in the current Senior Men's squad through innovative and structured training sessions. The successfully applicant will not only have a talented Senior 1st team squad at his/her disposal but also the opportunity to nurture and coach some of the brightest local young players from Schools such as Caterham and other leading, local rugby schools.

The Coach will be responsible to take a weekly training session on Tuesday Evenings, deciding and selecting on the tactics for the 1st XV squad for Saturday Fixtures. In return, the club will offer structured support to allow the coach to fully concentrate on his coaching responsibilities and expenses.

Anyone wishing to apply for this position should contact Steve Dalgleish at rugby@oldcats.co.uk

Looking for some help getting tax refunds?

Monday, Feb 23, 2009

The Association of Rugby Coaches is happy to offer the services of Peter Clare and his company Mr Tax.

Did you know that one in three employed taxpayers overpay their tax. Even if the refud amount is small, would you rather not choose to claim and give it to your favourite charity? A refund claim can go back five previous tax years so a small amount can be come much larger.

Being a member of The Coaches Association involves paying a subscription. This is an approved deduction and should be reflected in the Notice of Coding that HMRC supply to you. If it is not, then you can claim. If you work from home, you are spending money on behalf of your employer - another example where you can claim.

Another common expense for coaches is travel other than to and from the normal workplace.  Your employer may well pay you for this travel but HMRC rules allow you to claim 40p per mile up to 10,000 miles in the Tax Year and 25p per mile after that. If your employers payment is less than this, you can claim the difference.

If you feel that you have met unclaimed expenses for your employer, calculate how much and compare this to your coding allowance. If there are no specific entitlements shown that match your expenses, then you are probably due a tax refund.

If you have any questions or queries call Peter on 0800 9701061 or email peter@peterclare.com and provided you have a copy of your coding notice or your Tax Reference, they can do the rest. Beforehand you should either collect all your receipts together or make a list of the amount spent in the tax year – ie. 6th April to 5th April .

So what are you waiting for?

Help save a young life

Friday, Dec 5, 2008

We have been contacted by an Association of Rugby Coaches Member with the following request. If you can help, please do...

Those of you involved in Mini Rugby, either as a Coach or Parent, will know the immense enjoyment the players get at this age when playing Rugby and playing with their mates. It is difficult, sometimes, to accept that those so young and carefree, could be taken away from us.

A member of the minis section of Bradford on Avon Rugby club, nr Bath, has a rare blood disorder, and is in urgent need of a bone marrow transplant to save his life.
An appeal is being made for people to come forward for an initial, simple and painless blood test with a view to considering donation should a match be found.

The donor must have had glandular fever and be between the ages of 18 and 45.
If you think you could help please call:
The National Blood Donor Service on 0845 771 1711 highlighting the glandular fever criteria, or
Register through the Anthony Nolan Trust

Please help to save a young life that has so much to live for

Thank You for your support
